Overview of Lenovo Ideapad 720s-15

The Novo Ideapad 720s-15 is a budget laptop, but it doesn’t feel like one. The 15.6″ Matte inch screen is bright and vibrant, making watching movies or reading long passages of text easy on the eyes. The touchscreen is responsive, and the fingerprint reader is fast and accurate. It means you don’t have to type in your password every time you want to log in. It also has a comfortable keyboard with plenty of spacing between the keys, which does type for hours at a time much less tedious than on other laptops with smaller keyboards.

The best thing about the Lenovo Ideapad 720s-15? It’s affordable and the battery life is better than most competing models; it will last up to 9 hours on a single charge. If you’re looking for something light and portable that can do everything from playing games to streaming Netflix, this might be the right computer for you. Plus, the extra space means no worries when upgrading components down the line.

Lenovo Ideapad 720S-15 Features

The features of the Lenovo Ideapad 720S-15 are average. There are a few positives and negatives, which we will explore in detail below. The first positive is the battery life. The battery lasts 5 hours when used on a single charge, which is an excellent improvement from the previous model, which only lasted 5 hours. The second positive is the weight, it weighs less than 5 pounds, making it easy to carry a laptop anywhere. Finally, the keyboard is much more comfortable thanks to its 1.3mm key travel distance and responsiveness on each keystroke. However, some negatives might not appeal to many people considering buying this laptop. One negative is the quality.

The resolution for this screen can’t compare with other laptops in the same price range; thus, if you’re looking for a laptop mainly for watching videos or editing pictures/videos, it might not be your best option. Another negative is that while the touchpad has good sensitivity and offers precise cursor control, there are times when multi-touch gestures don’t work correctly. Reason to choose Lenovo Ideapad 720s-15. One of its most appealing features is its lightweight design. It weighs just under 5 pounds and measures just over an inch thick. Aside from having many colors to choose from, the Lenovo IdeaPad 720s-15 is also reasonably priced.

Bright and High-Contrast Display

Despite its outstanding maximum brightness level of 332 cd/m², the enovo ideapad 720s-15 matte 15.6-inch Full HD IPS panel (141 PPI) is no longer good enough to stand out from the host of displays in higher-cost multimedia laptops; among our comparison devices, only the unusually bright Dell XPS 2018 can claim that accomplishment. Asus does not offer an alternative screen brightness on this device in the German market; other countries will have better options. The lenovo ideapad 720s-15 goes on about versions with a touchscreen.

The display’s brightness distribution is 83% similar across the screen slightly below average. Among our comparison devices, only the HP Specter does a better job here. In a dark room, a completely black image looks somewhat checkered. Especially along the top and bottom edges, screen bleeding is clearly in evidence. This may be noticeable if you watch a film in original picture format with black bars filling the remaining screen space, but average screen content will mask the flaw.

The laptop’s recessed keyboard is about a half-centimeter narrower than a standard desktop keyboard. More palpable, however, is the somewhat cramp number block. Which has a limit width that could be problematic for people with larger hands. Because the cursor keys migrate to the bottom-most row. Keys like ctrl and alt are only as big as regular letter keys. Otherwise, everything is essentially where you would expect to find it. The keys are flat, easy to read, and have a short journey and perceptible actuation point.

The size of the keys and the gaps in between should just right to unleash some 10-finger acrobatics for those who well-practice. Prolific typists who fancy a rigid and only subtly cushioned click will undoubtedly feel enthusiastic about this keyboard. We also enjoy the uniform, sufficiently bright, and dimmable keyboard backlight. The keyboard does not bend in the middle, at least not under a realistic pressure level. Because the space key is audible, the keyboard is not a natural choice in whisper-only environments. However, it can work quietly enough if you try to type a little more gently.

Regarding the Lenovo ideapad 720s-15 did not waste any available space. And inlaid a slightly recessed, comfortable-sized pad in the general area. The surface is entirely smooth, and a thin silver frame surrounds the place. If your fingers are dry or a little moist, they will glide effortlessly across the pad’s silky surface. On the other hand, sweaty fingers in the summer months are liable to stick. And wet fingers get trip up in the execution of sweeping gestures. Gestures with up to four fingers can be configured easily in the Windows 10 settings.

The touchpad’s responsiveness and precision are beyond critique. With some effort, the cursor can be made to move with pixel precision, and quick strokes are also reliably recognized. If you trace your finger wildly around the touchpad, the cursor sometimes has trouble remembering the gestures accurately. This issue is unlikely to be noticeable in everyday use, but most other touchpads do not behave this way. Drag and drop via double-click worked flawlessly in most cases. The glossy mouse replacement keys have a pleasantly short travel length, subtle acoustic feedback, and distinct actuation points.

Battery Duration

The Lenovo Ideapad 720s-15 is a great laptop if you’re looking for something affordable that can still get the job done. The battery life isn’t amazing, but it’s not terrible, either. It lasted about six hours before needing to be charged again. It also has no fancy features like a touchscreen or backlit keys. So, the tradeoff is a more affordable price point. The Lenovo IdeaPad 720s 15ikb is perfect if you’re looking for something that won’t break your bank while still get the job done. In short, this is easily offset by its budget-friendly pricing and firm performance in other areas. The Lenovo IdeaPad 720s 15 review is a solid option if you don’t need these features.

Lenovo Ideapad Performance

The Intel Core i7-7700HQ is a fast quad-core processor based on the Kaby Lake architecture of a bygone era. The CPU supports Hyper-Threading and has a base clock rate of 2.8 GHz that can climb to 3.8 GHz with turbo. This processor resides in innumerable gaming laptops from a generation ago, but in those cases, it is configured to the standard TDP of 45 watts. On the other hand, our test device is limited to 35 watts, curtailing its potential performance power.

If we interpret the advanced settings options under the energy menu correctly, the base clock rate at a TDP of 35 watts is 1.7 GHz, while reducing the TDP even further to 25 watts supposedly raises the base clock rate to 2.8 GHz. A DDR4 RAM-compatible storage controller and an Intel HD Graphics 630 graphics unit are integrated into the CPU. Despite the TDP limit, the CPU’s performance should be sufficient for more demanding programs and extreme multitasking.

When it comes to gaming, the processor should rarely act as a bottleneck. Since the TDP varies among processors and we don’t differentiate them in the database, we also look at how a processor’s performance stacks up against others. Though we’re hardly surprised to find out that the 7700HQ in the test device turns out to be one of the slowest processors we’ve reviewed so far, its overall performance only falls short by about 9% when you look at it from the perspective of a single benchmark cycle in the Cinebench R15 multi-core benchmark.

System of Lenovo Ideapad 720s-15

lenovo ideapad 720s 15

According to facts, the Lenovo Ideapad 720S-15 IKB’s system performance is substantially higher than average for its price bracket. Even though its core components are different, our Lenovo and the rest of our comparison devices are on the same plane, except the HP laptop. But the Spectre’s significantly worse results can be traced back to an apparent cause. Its system would only let the benchmark run on the CPU’s integrated graphics card rather than its dedicated graphics card. PCMark 10 paints a somewhat different picture. Here ovo Ideapad 720s-15 falls slightly behind the Asus and Dell laptops, likely because of its limited TDP. In everyday use, however, the Lenovo always ran smoothly as butter with minimal wait and load times. Thanks to its eight threads, even the most wanton multitasking poses no problem for our test device.Lenovo Ideapad 720s-15
